I have been reading about our New York Legislators in recent weeks as they struggled and argued to pass the budget. So many disputes and equally as much grand-standing. We listened for weeks to Governor Cuomo, Speaker of the Assembly Carl Heastie, and Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan tout their priorities and goals for New York State.
New York now has the highest overall tax burden of every state in the nation. Every single state! The biggest tax burden in the country is now carried on the backs of New York residents. New York also ranks number one in residents fleeing the state permanently. One million residents have packed their bags and migrated OUT of New York since 2010.
The bottom line is New York State is not prospering. It’s floundering. Why is that? How can it be possible that with all the tax money rolling in to NY Government, we still aren’t economically flourishing? The answer is directly tied to the abortion rate in our state. New York is the number one abortion state in the country. We also have the highest rate of black and Hispanic babies being killed in the womb than any other state.
Yet, we have a Governor that is pushing to have even more abortion and he wants it formally written into the NY Constitution. At the same time, Democratic Assemblywoman, Nily Rozic is calling on the NY State Health Department to fund millions more into the state’s Planned Parenthood organization.
Most recently, the Schenectady County Legislature also voted to fund abortions and support Planned Parenthood in the County.
So where are all the Republican leaders? Where is John Flanagan on this issue? Why isn’t he leading and being more vocal? Where are the other NY Republicans? Why hasn’t anyone taken the lead and began steering the state in a direction that puts value on the lives of unborn children in the womb?
There is a higher law than the law of the land. It’s the spiritual law of God. It’s the law of sowing and reaping. Our state will reap what it sows, regardless of what leaders say and try to push in their agendas. New York State will only begin to flourish economically when we begin to value and protect life.
We cannot sow into abortion, snuffing out life and call it women’s rights and healthcare. We cannot decimate entire populations of blacks and Hispanics, while leaders say they value diversity. We cannot pour money into murder and expect our state to spring into life. It won’t happen. Who will be the legislator that finally recognizes this and steps out to combat this atrocity?
NY Government leaders must get this issue fixed and on the right course first, then and only then, will NY begin to rise out of the bottom of the economic heap.
